It is difficult to achieve the accuracy during machining in 5 axes due to displacement of the axis of rotation and other geometrical errors. The 5-axis autotuning system designed by OKUMA, measures the geometric errors using a measuring probe. The system applies compensation using the measurement results to set the accuracy of the movements in the machine. Thanks to this, higher machining accuracy in 5 axes can be achieved.

Previously, the manual measurements (determination of the center of rotation manually) were cumbersome and time-consuming. But thanks to the 5-Axis Auto Tuning System, the measurements are made automatically by the machine, and at the same time they lie within the limits of the fixed value of the measurement error, regardless of by whom the measurements are performed. In addition, the tuning is carried out regardless of whether the measurements were made in manual, automatic or MDI mode and whether the tool center control is on or off.
